Creating Better Learning Environments with Marsh Industries

Creating Better Learning Environments with Marsh Industries

The History of Marsh Industries

The Marsh family business started in Dover, Ohio in 1914 with the formation of the Marsh Lumber Company. Following World War I, the company experienced a period of rapid growth and purchased an abandoned lumber yard to manufacture wood products for flooring, car decking and interior trim. In 1958, the Marsh Chalkboard Division was started and was the origin for the visual display products offered today.

In 1995, the company name was changed to Marsh Industries and now over 105 years later and in its fifth generation of family ownership, is one of the largest manufacturers of visual display-board products in the United States.

How Marsh Products Are Creating Better Learning Environments

Education customers have always been a primary focus at Marsh – both K12 and university. Marsh offers specialized markerboards with custom trim options, colors and specialized graphics - wall mounted markerboards and reversible mobile markerbaords. Tackboards, space dividers, display cases, acoustical panels and accessories are also part of the product offering. Easels and lapboards are also available for younger students along with chalkboard products which are more and more hard to find among competitors.

How Marsh Drives Innovation As A Company

Listening to the customer is key to creating innovative products like the Retro-Fit Surface Conversion Boards. Also, having an education-centric focus, Marsh is also thinking and developing products geared toward enhancing visual products with the student in mind.

Resources Marsh Uses To Stay Ahead of The Curve

Marsh attends and exhibits at key industry trade shows like EDspaces as well as regionally through partner events to stay attune with current product trends.  Marsh management is also part of the board of directors and committee structure for EDMarket. There is an architecture division at Marsh that works daily with resellers doing new school construction projects, so their staff is exposed to the latest developments and requirements of today’s education market.
